So there we where... Corrientes, Paso de la patria. Finally seeing where my sister in law Steffi comes from!
When I first met her, or shortly after she moved to Belgium, I told her to come over to my grandparents place where I was living. She would have to bike from Wilrijk to Kontich. I explained to her to take the big strait street (prins boudewijnlaan) and it would be easy. (I draw a map etc) Little did I know she was going to use and follow a GPS, sending her trough that other big strait street, the autopista E19! Cops intercepted her, and I m sure they had a lot of fun sending her all the way to the next exit , imagine steffi biking the emergency lane, escorted by the police car! We drank a good glass of rosé and can now laugh about it. Her excuse was that in Corrientes, it would have been a normal thing to do, people where still riding horses so why not biking the highway?!
I was very close to give a short speech at their wedding cause I came across a little movie once that might just be Steffi in a few years from now!
I figured that if they where still riding horses, projecting a movie might just be too modern ;-)
(Pierre and Nath did a brother/sister speech which was in my opinion a better reflection of the Belgian Argentinan wedding than just focusing on Steffi's legendary first moments! Of course, I would have been nice and correct (after all she is at time of writing my sister in law, and we also happen to get a long quiet well) and add that luckily her further integration went just as spectacular in a way but less dangerously; Steffi managed to find a hell of a good job she s doing brilliantly, learnt English and dutch (yes, Nederlands) and improved her French! She also managed to make friends (a lot of them) but even in her neighbourhood , which in my opinion, and living abroad myself, isn't a sinecure in Flanders! )
Anyway... So far introducing Steffi, here is the movie I was talking about:
